Role Overview

Seeking a Backend Engineer (SDE – Backend) to join its mature, scaled product platform. This role focuses on enhancing backend systems, improving reliability, performance, and scalability, and building new features on top of a well-established architecture.

The ideal candidate is strong at writing production-quality code, debugging complex distributed systems, and understanding how design decisions impact scalability, availability, and long-term maintainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain backend services for user, inventory, pricing, order, and payment systems.
• Write clean, efficient, and reliable code using Java 8+ and Spring Boot 2.7+.
• Own and improve production systems with focus on performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Debug and resolve complex production issues involving services, databases, caches, and messaging systems.
• Contribute to LLD and HLD discussions for new features and system improvements.
• Work with event-driven and asynchronous architectures ensuring correctness of data flows.
• Optimize database schemas, queries, indexing strategies, and caching layers.
• Collaborate with DevOps, QA, and Product teams to support smooth 24×7 operations.
• Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and incident post-mortems.
• Take end-to-end ownership of backend components from design to production support.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience building and maintaining backend systems in production.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot microservices.
• Solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and backend problem solving.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases at scale.
• Hands-on with RESTful APIs, asynchronous systems, and Kafka.
• Strong debugging skills in live production systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, testing, and release management best practices.
• Exposure to distributed systems and microservices architecture.

Good to Have

• Experience with Redis, Elasticsearch, MongoDB.
• Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience in on-call rotations and incident handling.
