🌟 Role Overview

We are seeking a Backend Tech Lead to architect and scale backend systems for a fast-growing hyperlocal content platform. This role requires strong expertise in distributed systems, microservices, cloud infrastructure, and backend architecture, with proven leadership in guiding engineering teams and owning major systems.

✅ Mandatory Criteria

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience, with 1–2 years leading engineers or owning major systems
• Must be from a product-based organization with a startup mindset
• Strong in one core backend language: Node.js, Go, Java, or Python
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, caching, high availability, and microservices architecture
• Hands-on experience with AWS/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong command over system design, data structures, performance tuning, and scalable architecture
• Ability to partner with Product, Data, and Infrastructure teams to lead backend roadmap execution

• Guide and mentor backend engineers, setting high engineering standards
• Partner with Product, Data, and Infra teams to deliver reliable features
• Lead discussions on system design, infra choices, and performance tuning
• Monitor production metrics, logs, and uptime to ensure stability
• Proactively identify gaps and push for improvements

🚀 Ideal Candidate

A backend leader with 6–10 years of experience, strong expertise in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure, and proven ability to lead teams in product-based startups. Must be hands-on, execution-focused, and passionate about building scalable systems for millions of users.

🌱 Bonus Points

• Experience scaling consumer apps with millions of DAUs
• Exposure to event-driven architecture, streaming systems, or real-time pipelines
• Familiarity with logging/monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, OpenTelemetry)
• Startup experience with multi-hat responsibilities
